Castleoak development celebrates key milestone for Abbeyfield

A state-of-the-art residential care home, which is set to open in Southampton in April 2019, marked a key milestone in its construction last week.

The development conceived by Castleoak was officially ‘topped out’ by Douglas Webb, Director of Retirement Living at The Abbeyfield Society. The project is Abbeyfield’s first leasehold care home.

The event to mark the placing of the last beam atop the structure was also attended by local MPs Mims Davies and Royston Smith, Gary Walker of the Dementia Action Alliance and Sion Rees, Operations Director - Construction at Castleoak.

The 80-bed Speedwell Court care home will offer future residents a home finished to the highest possible standards. It will boast an impressive array of facilities including a hair salon, café and an on-site pub, appropriately named ‘The Abbeyfield Arms’, and is set within a safe, secure and caring environment. The project aims to achieve the highly coveted Stirling University Gold accreditation for dementia care design. read more
