Proud to Care South West


Proud to Care South West is a partnership of 16 local authorities and Health Education England working together at a regional level to raise the profile of a career in care and health.

The partners are: Health Education England, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Borough of Poole Council, Bournemouth Borough Council, Bristol City Council, Cornwall Council, Devon County Council, Dorset County Council, Gloucestershire County Council, Isles of Scilly, North Somerset Council, Plymouth City Council, Somerset County Council, South Gloucestershire Council, Swindon Borough Council, Torbay Council and Wiltshire Council.

  • Challenge to recruit and retain a workforce both locally and nationally across all care sectors and all grades

What do we want to achieve?

  • Establish a regional approach to raising the profile of care
  • Encourage positive thinking and reaction to care and care giving
  • Recognise the value and commitment of carers and care workers
  • Attract and retain high calibre applicants to caring roles and care careers in the public, private, voluntary and independent sector
  • Develop career pathways in care and health to attract, retain and develop high quality people in the sector

Focus of year 1

Recruitment of care and support workers, and other key adult social care staff in community-based personal care, care homes, learning disability and mental health

Target audiences

  • Young people and those who may have studied for a health and social care qualification
  • Parent returners
  • Those aged 50+ who have more life experience, want to give something back to their community and may even act as ‘influencers’ to their young adult children
  • Students who are looking for jobs over the holiday period

Based on real life case studies from across the partnership area,the following activities are scheduled between July and December 2017:

  • Facebook and YouTube advertising
  • Google search engine advertising
  • Press advertorial and editorial feature
  • Fish 4 jobs –job seekers advertising
  • SoundCloud podcasts and audio ads
  • Sky TV AdSmart
  • Promoting holiday and seasonal work

Website is a campaign site with links to local partner sites advertising job vacancies

Timing The campaign started 17 July and will run until mid-December 2017
