For over 6 years, Care England have facilitated the Care Home Parliamentary Network (CHPN). The Network, exclusively for Parliamentarians, provides an informal arena where Parliamentarians can acquire and impart knowledge on the latest health and social care developments.

Care England facilitates the Network by ensuring that Parliamentarians are well briefed on social care matters that will impact on their constituencies, legislation, the NHS and the economy at large. This takes the form of regular, concise briefings and newsletters summarising all social care related developments in Parliament and British political discourse more widely, including legislative developments, Select Committee and APPG activity, media coverage and more. Care England support Parliamentarians with bespoke speaking notes and help corroborate arguments for reform with the most up-to-date, accurate figures and statistics.

While the CHPN is largely an online tool, occasional in-person events bring together a wide range of stakeholders from the sector. This includes individuals from Care England’s membership, staff, trade associations and trade and national press, with the annual Parliamentary Reception representing a unique opportunity to meet and discuss with those at the heart of the care sector.

The Parliamentary Network aims to harness expertise and passion for social care in Parliament, supporting members in their advocacy for the sector and driving the agenda forward.

The CHPN is managed by Ioan Bishop, Policy and Parliamentary Affairs Officer at Care England. If you or a colleague is interested in joining the Parliamentary Network, please contact Ioan at ibishop@careengland.org.uk
