 c\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\nIn a judgment handed down on 2nd June 2026 ([2026] UKSC 
 16)\, the Supreme Court rejected the definition of deprivation of liberty 
 (DoL) as set out in 2014 by the Cheshire West case ([2014] UKSC 19).\nThis
  represented a significant shift in the law and had a wide-ranging impact 
 across all aspects of health and social care. Immediate consideration was 
 given to organisational updates and practice/policy revisions.\nHempsons h
 osted a webinar on 5th June 2026 to explain the judgment\, its practical i
 mpact\, and the steps organisations needed to take to review policies and
