In this session, Hempsons Head of Social Care, Philippa Doyle, highlighted the current position with CQC, what the proposed changes might look like, how they would impact providers and, most importantly, how providers could continue to gather evidence to demonstrate to CQC the good work they were delivering. Whatever format inspections take in the future, compliance with the regulations remained the cornerstone of delivering good care and securing a good rating, and developing business-as-usual evidence gathering practices would stand every service in good stead to drive improvement.

Navigating the CQC quality statements

A comprehensive guide to preparing your evidence for CQC inspection and assessment was also covered.

CQC’s single assessment framework was in the process of being refined following extensive consultation with the sector to de-duplicate, streamline, and simplify the process.

While these changes were underway, the toolkit created in collaboration with Care England by Head of Social Care Philippa Doyle, whose experience with CQC provided a strong understanding of the regulator’s inner workings and processes, was highlighted as a must have resource for social care providers.

What was included?
The toolkit aimed to demystify the single assessment framework, help providers understand what CQC was looking for, and explain how the SAF related to the fundamental standards of care regulations.
