CCoEWorkshop One – Cyber in Care: How Much Should You Know?

Recognising the urgent need to share this message and imbue resilience in the care sector, the Cyber Centre of Excellence, Digital Care Hub, and Care England are proudly partnering to deliver a three-part series of educational cyber security workshops designed to prepare all members of the care sector to defend against modern cyber-attacks.

The first workshop in the series, titled ‘Cyber in Care: How Much Should You Know?’  took place on Wednesday 12th November, at 12:00 to 1:30PM.

The free online session aimed to empower care leaders, managers and frontline teams from residential and domiciliary care environments with practical, jargon-free advice on how to build digital resilience and protect their organisations from growing cyber threats.

The structure included one hour of educational content and games followed by an optional 30-minute open Q&A discussion to address any pressing concerns about cyber risks.

Workshop one is suitable for any care provider taking the first step into cyber, and will cover:

  • Creating strong passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA), and password management
  • Using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to stay secure while working remotely
  • How to detect a phishing scam in the age of AI
  • The risks of ransomware
  • Data Security and Protection Toolkits (DSPT)
  • Care-specific digital and data protection compliance.

Free Dark Web Scan

Following Workshop One, the Cyber Centre of Excellence will proudly offer a free dark web scan to organisations that attended and plan to continue with the series. Using your organisation’s email domain (e.g. @organisation.org.uk), we will identify any leaked credentials detected on the dark web that could pose a serious security risk. Our team will then provide guidance and support to help you remediate these vulnerabilities before the final workshop.

We invite all care providers – from small residential homes to large multi-site organisations – to join us in building a safer, more secure future for the care sector.
