Join MacIntyre’s Dementia Special Interest Group for a jam-packed morning of learning and inspiration.
The Dementia Special Interest Group is open to anyone who would benefit from sharing experiences arising from the changing needs of people with dementia, as well as from listening to people with lived experience and other specialists in the field.
At every meeting we provide news from the dementia sector, including Beth Britton MBE’s roundup, hear a learning disability nurse perspective and connect into Dementia UK latest work.
Guest speakers will be confirmed soon and there will be interactive content.
MacIntyre colleagues: If you work in a home where someone is diagnosed or suspected of having dementia, it’s crucial for a member of your team to attend.
This event is open to everyone and is perfect for those passionate about championing the health needs of the people we support.
Takeaways:
- To learn about the role of advance care planning when you are supporting a person with a learning disability who may have developed dementia or is at risk of developing dementia.
- To explore a variety of tools that can be used when doing end of life (EOL) or advanced care planning, including those from the Victoria and Stuart project.
- To leave the meeting with an understanding of what good practice looks like and realistic ideas to help you begin the planning process with a person you support, keeping the person front and centre.
