Event Type

Launch event

Funded by Skills for Care and led by Dr Trish Hafford-Letchfield (University of Strathclyde) and Lawrence Roberts (LGBT Foundation), this learning framework for working with LGBTQ+ people in later life aims to provide a base for identifying the insights, knowledge, understanding and skills that the social care workforce need to help them work affirmatively, inclusively and effectively with individuals from gender and sexually diverse communities.

The framework also identifies and articulates more systematically, the key topics that should underpin best practices with LGBTQ+ older people and their carers and advocates in social care.

About the event

With input from Dr Trish Hafford-Letchfield, Professor of Social Work, University of Strathclyde, and Lawrence Roberts, Pride in Ageing Manager, LGBT Foundation, the launch event will offer insight into why the framework is needed, how it was developed, and practical examples on how it can be used.
