Participants joined our webinar to discover how simple, practical changes to waste operations can deliver immediate benefits for businesses and the planet. With residents, families, and potentially the CQC’s Environmental Sustainability Quality Statement demanding greater environmental responsibility, now was the time to act. Whether or not formal CQC assessments became mandatory for care homes, attendees learned proven strategies to cut costs, reduce their carbon footprint, energise staff and residents, and position their care home as a leader in sustainable practice.
Attendees heard from Nick Power and Gavin Anderson from Veolia in this must-attend webinar that delivered a clear, actionable roadmap to revolutionise waste management. Participants discovered practical strategies, from conducting effective waste audits to inspiring staff engagement, that work in harmony to slash carbon emissions, boost recycling rates, and strengthen financial performance. As an exclusive bonus, every attendee received a complimentary waste audit from Veolia’s specialist team, offering tailored insights and expert recommendations designed specifically for their facility’s unique needs. This session provided both the knowledge and the tools to drive real, measurable change.
In this session participants learned:
- How to conduct and use simple waste audits to uncover quick wins that boost both environmental and financial performance, and how Veolia’s complimentary audit could jumpstart an improvement journey
- Practical steps to increase sustainability through better segregation, better procurement and internal processes
- Simple methods to engage staff and residents to help boost efforts and create a culture that cares about sustainability
- How to use data to implement cost reduction and efficiency improvements
- Real examples showing how care homes had cut waste costs and improved recycling rates
- How small operational changes could impact a carbon footprint
With Simpler Recycling regulations now in effect, this webinar demystified compliance requirements for care services and equipped attendees with the knowledge to ensure their organisation met regulatory obligations with confidence.
Why Attend?
Care providers stood at a pivotal moment: the chance to transform sustainability from a regulatory burden into a powerful driver of excellence in care delivery. This webinar went far beyond waste management—it focused on embedding sustainability into the very heart of a quality strategy. Attendees gained insights and confidence to lead the sector forward and received a complimentary waste audit from Veolia’s experts. This personalised assessment delivered targeted analysis and practical recommendations designed specifically for their care home, empowering them to set the standard in sustainable operations.
Veolia Orchard (Social Value) –
https://www.veolia.co.uk/veolia-orchard – Veolia’s nationwide orchard now stands at over 1,500 apple and pear trees and 1,900 strawberry plants.
Through this national campaign we want to give local communities a chance to feel the benefits of working with nature and getting their hands dirty. Recipients can use the programme to nurture new skills and take positive action in their communities.
As the trees and plants mature, they will provide a source of healthy food, whilst also helping to improve local air quality and support biodiversity.
In 2025, the scheme covered new ground by accepting applications from a wider range of settings, including universities, colleges, prisons, care homes and community centres.
