Home / Resources & Guidance / Former Care Charity Bosses Join Forces To Help Boards Deliver Change

Mark Lloyd, immediate past Managing Director of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Care Company (RMBI Care Co) and Steve Allen, immediate past Group CEO of Friends of the Elderly (FotE), have teamed up to provide consultancy services to companies and charities operating in the health and social care sector.

Their new venture, Alloyd Care Partners, aims to provide trusted advice and guidance based on their significant knowledge of the sector, to executives and trustees, on matters including:

  • divesting traditional care home portfolios and reinvesting the proceeds in their community,
  • investing in a new generation of care environments, including care homes designed and staffed to provide the best outcomes across residential, dementia and nursing care,
  • raising ethical and sustainable finance for care homes and integrated retirement communities (IRCs) through a wide range of debt and equity solutions,
  • providing care and support services within new-build and existing IRCs,
  • delivering strategic change, including best practice in Corporate Governance, and
  • managing enterprise risk where a board has a shortfall in care experience.

The duo supported each other during their decade-long leadership of nationally-distinguished charities. Under their tenure, both organisations became active members of Care England and the National Care Forum, Accelerator Members of ARCO, ran joint projects with My Home Life, and actively engaged with Allia C&C who operate Retail Charity Bonds.

Lloyd commented: “Having met Steve whilst both serving on the board of a national care body, we have separately gained experience of restructuring complex charities and raising finance to deliver successful new developments. Our combined experience positions us well to assist both third-sector and for-profit enterprises, in these increasingly challenging times”.

Allen said: “Given that we have committed ourselves fully to the care sector and led our organisations to flourish in regulatory and commercial environments, Mark and I will use our shared skills and know-how to help other operators pivot where necessary to deliver change – through time-limited interventions or longer-term partnerships with client boards”.
