Home / Resources & Guidance / Local Government Reorganisation – Guide for Providers

It’s now been nearly a year since the Local Government Minister Jim McMahon announced the government’s intention to rapidly roll out a programme of local government reorganisation (LGR) in England – the first on this scale in over 50 years.

Despite the enormity of the incoming changes over the next few years, there appears to be a lack of information specifically designed for the social care sector, or indeed anyone who doesn’t live and breathe local government in one way or another.

Care England has produced an LGR guide, which will be regularly updated, that explains the process, why, where and when it’s happening, and crucially what it means for providers

As restructuring plans are finalised in the new year, we will also update this page and inform Care England members through both of our monthly funding Special Interest Group meetings.

Whilst we recognise there’s a lot that we still don’t know about the process, and a lot that will vary from place to place. If you have more questions about LGR, you can fill out the form below and our Policy Officer, Cai Parry, will endeavour to provide answers.
