Focus Energy Services

Care England is advising care providers to exercise caution before entering new energy contracts following sharp movements in global energy markets.

Our energy partner, Focus Energy Services, has reported that short-term gas contracts have risen significantly following the latest escalation of conflict in the Middle East. Gas prices are currently more than double the levels seen last Friday, while electricity prices have also increased, although to a lesser degree.

The volatility is linked to disruption affecting LPG shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing suspension of LNG production at QatarEnergy’s Ras Laffan facility.

Despite the immediate price increase, longer-term energy contracts for Summer 2027 remain notably lower than Summer and Winter 2026 prices. This suggests that markets currently anticipate the conflict being resolved without long-term disruption to energy supply.

However, periods of market uncertainty often lead to increased activity from energy brokers encouraging organisations to enter long-term contracts quickly.

Care England therefore advises providers not to rush into energy agreements under pressure or based on fear of further price increases.

To support the sector during this uncertain period, Focus Energy Services has offered free advice to Care England members to help providers understand the current market conditions and consider their options before signing any agreements.

This offer is intended purely to support providers with independent guidance and should not be viewed as a sales initiative.

Care providers who would like advice on their current energy position or upcoming contract decisions are encouraged to contact Focus Energy Services before committing to any new agreements.
