CCoEWorkshop Two – The Deep, the Dark and the Hidden Dangers

Recognising the urgent need to share this message and imbue resilience in the care sector, the Cyber Centre of Excellence, Digital Care Hub, and Care England are proudly partnering to deliver the second in a three-part series of educational cyber security workshops designed to prepare all members of the care sector to defend against modern cyber-attacks.

The free online session aims to empower care leaders, managers and frontline teams from residential and domiciliary care environments with practical, jargon-free advice on how to build digital resilience and protect their organisations from growing cyber threats.

In the 90-minute session, we will strike a balance between education and interaction, ensuring care providers of all technical abilities can participate. The structure includes one hour of educational content and games followed by an optional 30-minute open Q&A discussion to address any pressing concerns about cyber risks.

Workshop Two will explore the dark web and the hidden threats that can impact care organisations. Attendees will learn how login credentials end up on the dark web and how this exposure can lead to cyber-attacks. After attending Workshop One, participants can sign up for a free dark web scan from the Cyber Centre of Excellence to identify any compromised credentials linked to their organisation’s email domain, along with tailored guidance to address vulnerabilities.

What You’ll Gain

  • A clear understanding of what an “attack surface” is — and why it matters for care.
  • Insight into asset discovery, including unmanaged devices, systems and supply chain vulnerabilities.
  • A breakdown of the surface, deep and dark web — and how exposed data travels between them.
  • Guidance on BYOD (bring your own device), AI usage, and Shadow IT risks.
  • Practical advice on breach monitoring, remediation and continuous protection — aligned with NCSC guidance.

Access to downloadable resources tailored to care providers.
