Good nutrition, regular movement, meaningful social connection and effective recovery are all recognised as important to healthier lives in care. The challenge is that they are often looked at in isolation, when in reality they are closely connected.
A poor night’s sleep can affect appetite, mobility, mood and willingness to take part in activities the following day. Reduced movement can affect strength, independence and social connection. Changes in nutrition can influence resilience and recovery. When one pillar is weakened, the effects can be felt across the others.
In this webinar, Thomas Tredinnick, CEO and Co-Founder of Ally Cares, will explore the Four Pillars for Happier, Healthier Residents: nutrition, movement, social connection and recovery. Drawing on evidence and experience from care homes, he will look at how these factors interact across the full day and night, and why recovery can have a disproportionate impact on safety, wellbeing and daytime care.
The session will consider what care providers can learn by looking beyond individual incidents or interventions and instead building a more complete picture of a resident’s health and wellbeing. Tom will also explore how better information can help care teams recognise changes, understand patterns and make more informed decisions about care.
Attendees will leave with a practical framework for thinking about resident wellbeing as an interconnected system rather than four separate areas, and a clearer understanding of how strengthening one pillar can help strengthen the others.
