Menopause Awareness Month

October marks Menopause Awareness Month, a time dedicated to recognising, educating, and empowering those experiencing menopause, particularly within the care workforce.

In the care sector, compassion and resilience are at the heart of everything we do. Yet, for many people working in care, menopause can have a significant impact on daily life, health, and wellbeing, too often, this important conversation remains hidden or overlooked.

At Care England, we’re proud to work in partnership with Menopause Support to change that. Together, we are providing a range of free resources, webinars, and one-to-one consultations designed to help every care worker feel informed, supported, and empowered through this stage of life.

Menopause is a natural stage of life that usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, although it can happen earlier for some. It involves hormonal changes that can influence many aspects of health and wellbeing, including sleep, mood, memory, and physical comfort.

For those working in care, where the focus is so often on supporting others, it’s equally important that we take the time to support ourselves and our colleagues. Understanding menopause not only helps those experiencing it; it also helps to create more compassionate, flexible, and inclusive workplaces across the sector.

By talking openly and building awareness, we can make sure that no one feels isolated or misunderstood.

To support staff and employers across the care workforce, we have created a five-part webinar series in partnership with Menopause Support. Each session focuses on a key area of menopause, combining practical advice, scientific insight, and real-life experiences to help guide and inform.

1. Understanding the Menopause

Exploring what happens in the body, the different stages of menopause, and the wide range of symptoms people may experience.

2. Menopause in the Workplace

Understanding how menopause can affect work and what employers can do to create more supportive environments.

3. Brain Health and Menopause

Looking at the science behind “brain fog” and offering practical strategies to improve focus, memory, and mental clarity.

4. Genitourinary Health and Menopause

Discussing common but often unspoken symptoms such as bladder changes and vaginal dryness, and outlining available treatment options.

5. Emotional and Mental Wellbeing

Focusing on the emotional side of menopause, from mood changes and anxiety to confidence and self-esteem, with practical ways to cope and seek support.

Each of these webinars is free to watch and offers guidance for both individuals and managers looking to build understanding and empathy within their teams.

Free One-to-One Support Sessions

If menopause symptoms are affecting your health, wellbeing, or ability to work, and you are experiencing financial hardship, you can access a free one-to-one consultation with a Menopause Support specialist.

These confidential sessions provide personalised advice, practical guidance, and signposting to help you find the best next steps for your situation. No one should have to face menopause alone or without access to support.
